Frederik Dikkers

Frederik G Dikkers MD, PhD, is a full Professor in Otorhinolaryngology at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Visiting Professor at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. Before his current affiliation, he was Associated Professor in Laryngology at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) of the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. For more than 25 years he has been responsible for the UMCG Voice Clinic. His interests include the full array of pediatric and adult laryngeal and tracheal problems. Since 1990 he has been responsible for two different courses on endoscopy. He is founder and president of the local working group on tracheal intervention. The Groningen dilatation tracheoscope was developed by his group.  

From 2008 - 2016, prof. Dikkers has been general secretary of the European Laryngological Society, where he is member of the Presidential Council. He is, amongst other memberships, a board member of the International Association of Phonosurgery IAP, and full member of the American Broncho-Esophagological Association ABEA and American Laryngological Association ALA. He is a reviewer of 11 journals, author and co-author of more than 95 international peer reviewed papers. He has contributed with 39 chapters in numerous textbooks on the larynx and on the difficult airway.

He has supervised several PhD projects on Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis and is cosupervising a PhD project on Narrow Band Imaging. In addition he has supervised more than 50 master’s theses in medicine. He has given more than 700 presentations in more than 30 countries. Since 1999, he was shortlisted by medical students four times and elected once as teacher of the year of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Groningen.
